Objectives
The Association is established as a not-for-profit charity which has a principal object of providing practical care, services and support to people within the Community who are experiencing sickness, disability, destitution, suffering, misfortune or helplessness by undertaking activities such as:
- providing food and access to facilities including toilets, showers and laundries for individuals in the Community who live in temporary accommodation and shipping containers;
- providing children’s clothing to families undergoing economic stress;
- providing access to a support program for people within the Community who are struggling with social isolation and disability to assist them in their home or linking them with relevant Government agencies and support;
- providing support, training and financial assistance to First Australians and people with English as a second language within the Community that are in necessitous circumstances;
- developing and providing access to support programs for people struggling with mental health issues including suicidal tendencies, gambling, drug or alcohol addiction;
- offering immediate response support to individuals within the Community who are impacted by emergencies or natural disasters;
- providing emergency assistance to needy people within the Community affected by any disaster to enable them to return as quickly as possible to a normal life;
- providing bushfire preparedness and resilience training to support people within the Community who are affected by bushfire disasters;
- providing low-cost food for individuals in lower socio-economic situations;
- providing life skills to facilitate self-reliance in Community members among the most needy and unemployed;
- providing support for homeless, economically disadvantaged and isolated families and individuals through counselling and educational service; and
- doing all such other things as are or may be incidental or conducive to the attainment of any of the above objectives
